Shieff, Dequevauviller, Darnell, Akrami, Granier and Madrid Named to Advisory Group
The Mouvement International du Parkour, Freerunning, et l'Art Du Déplacement today named the initial members of its practitioners advisory group, they are Charlotte Dequevauller 24 (FRA); Tim Shieff, 26 (GBR); Fatemeh Akrami, 20 (IRI); Paul Darnell, 32 (USA); Erica Nicole Madrid, 23 (USA) and Thibaut Granier, 27 (FRA).
The group will function as a consultative body, advising on strategy and ensuring a constant focus on the needs of practitioners.
“The Mouvement was created to help all those who practice parkour, freerunning and l’art du déplacement. We now have a diverse group of practitioners to help make sure we continue in the right direction. It’s also very satisfying that the first people to join the board of directors, outside of the founding members, should be practitioners themselves” said The Mouvement’s president, David Belle.
Of the six initial members of practitioner’s advisory group, Charlotte Dequevauviller and Tim Shieff will both serve on The Mouvement’s main board of directors. Three further members of the group will be appointed in the first quarter of 2015, based on open member nominations. One of those three will also serve on the board.
“It is a huge honour to be asked to represent practitioners of parkour, freerunning and l’art du déplacement by the same people who founded the practice,” said Charlotte Dequevauviller. “I know The Mouvement is determined to ensure the highest possible appeal and participation rates for women and I look forward to having this as a focus of our work.”
“It’s one thing to be invited to give an opinion, and quite another to be invited to help provide direction for an organisation,” said Tim Shieff. “So many opportunities are opening up for humanitarian work, for competition and simply to have the thing we love recognized all around the world. As we all work to take advantage of the opportunities ahead of us, the other members of this new group and I will do all we can to ensure The Mouvement thinks first and foremost about practitioners.”
